Is the fear of a negative comment on your Facebook page stopping your school from getting involved in social media?
It’s important to remember when embarking on a social media journey, that your school needs to be a “human brand”. So, just like real life friendships , you will have ups and downs, and people won’t necessarily agree with you all the time.
The most important thing for a school is to have a clearly defined social media policy that outlines what is and isn’t acceptable from your community. You also need to have a plan in place to deal with any negative comments if they should arise.
I encourage you to listen to the podcast below from Brendan Schneider which gives schools some great strategies on how to be prepared, which can often turn negatives into a positive. These conversations are going to happen, so it’s better you’re there in person to deal with them rather than having people speak behind your back in places you have no control over.
The motto of this story – Be prepared!
